What is Cross Country? Rather running on a track, Cross Country runs over grass and various other terrain.
How far would I run? 6th graders should be running 1 mile before the end of the season, but some 6th graders make it onto varsity where you will be required to run 2 miles.
What if I'm not good at it? The beauty of Cross Country is that it is a no-cut sport, and while we have had some amazing runners, anyone can run a mile. We don't start running a mile right away, but slowly challenge ourselves to get there. Since 2004 we have never had a runner not complete a mile by the end of the season.
What if I'm in other sports? There are a few sports that overlap with Cross Country, but you can join us after that season is over. The only sport you CANNOT do at the same time as Cross Country is the boys school soccer team as many of our practices and championships overlap. Many of our runners use Cross Country to get in shape for other sports, and you can still do your club soccer team no problem.
Can I try it out first? Absolutely, give us 2 weeks, if you don't like it, you can quit, no questions asked. We have a Summer Running Camp for all 4th and 5th graders, the link above for the calendar.
How can I join? You can contact either one of the Cross Country coaches clicking on their name for more information: Coach Thas or Coach Setchell.
